Parts of New York state are bursting with autumn colors this week as some areas near peak foliage while others continue to see leaves change across the state.
According to New York's weekly fall foliage report, spectacular seasonal hues continue to emerge across the state. Near-peak and peak foliage is expected this weekend in the Adirondacks, while leaves are nearing the midpoint of their color change in parts of the Catskills and near the Capital Region.
So, what are the foliage conditions across the state this week? Here's the third report of the season from the state Department of Economic Development, broken down by region:
Adirondacks fall foliage
Franklin County: An 85% color change is predicted by the weekend in Tupper Lake and Mt. Arab, with vibrant kaleidoscope
of dandelion, goldenrod, maple syrup, russet, marmalade, pumpkin, crimson and rhubarb hues. In Saranac Lake, a 65% color change is also predicted, with a mix of seasonal colors. A 40% color change predicted for the weekend in Malone, with touches of red and orange.
Herkimer County: Spotters predict an 80% change and peak conditions in Old Forge with gold, orange, and red leaves, with some pockets of green.
Essex County: Spotters predict a 75% color change and near peak foliage on Whiteface Mountain in Wilmington, with seasonal colors, and around a 75% color change on the area around the mountain very bright red, orange, purple and yellow leaves. In Lake Placid, expect a 75% color change and peak foliage by the weekend, with brilliant reds and burgundies, plus some vibrant yellows and golds. A 75% color transition is also predicted in Newcomb by the weekend, lots of very bright reds and oranges, plus golden yellow accents. Spotters predict a 35% color transition in Crown Point, with gold trees, russets, oranges, and splashes of red. In Ticonderoga, expect a 30% color transition, with average-to-bright yellows and oranges, underscored by red.
Hamilton County: Spotters predict an 75% color change by the weekend in Lake Pleasant, with autumnal shades. A 70% color transition is expected by the weekend in Benson, with lakeshore and lower slopes showing widespread red, burgundy, orange and yellow leaves, while the upper hillside remains mostly green. A 60% color transition is also expected by the weekend in Long Lake, with various reds, bright oranges and golden yellows.
St. Lawrence County: A 60% color transition is expected by the weekend in Wanakena with brilliant red and deep oranges and yellows, coupled with some leaf droppage.
Lewis County: Expect a 55% color change by the weekend in Port Leyden with a strong mix of vivid red and orange maples along the riverbanks.
Warren County: Observers predict a 35% color change by the weekend in Queensbury, with average shades of yellow and red leaves. In Lake George, expect a 25% color transition, with patches of yellow and orange.
Catskills fall foliage

Greene County: Observers predict up to an 80% color transition in the upper elevations of Windham, with a mix of fall hues. Expect a 50% transition in Tannersville with mostly yellow leaves alongside some sweeping pockets of bright red and orange, and a 30% in Greenville with mostly yellow leaves and pops of orange and red. A 20% change in Catskill is also predicted by the weekend, with mostly yellow leaves.
Delaware County: In Dehli, expect a 60% color transition by the weekend average-to-bright colors. Foliage in certain pockets and valleys is approaching midpoint of change with trees frosted in yellow, gold and orange hues. Spotters predict a 40% foliage change in Colchester, Roscoe and Downsville with bright autumn colors emerging. They also forecast a 40% change in Stamford and Bloomville, with yellow, orange and some red leaves.
Ulster County: Spotters predict a 65% color change at Belleayre Mountain in Highmount, with brilliant, warm shades of orange and yellow, with occasional purple-reds.
Sullivan County: Spotters predict a 25% color change in Forestburgh, with bright autumn colors.
Capital-Saratoga fall foliage

Fulton County: A 75% change in Stratford is expected by the weekend, with most trees showing bright yellow, red and orange shades. Spotters also predict a 40% change in Northville, with brilliant fall colors.
Rensselear County: Spotters predict a 45% change in East Nassau, with gold, yellow, orange, and some red leaves. A 45% change is also predicted in Brunswick, yellow, red and bright orange leaves, with more color at higher elevations.
Albany County: In Voorheeseville, observers predict up to a 35% color change at Thacher State Park, with lots of bright yellow leaves joining reds and oranges.. Spotters also predict a up to a 35% change in Cohoes at Cohoes Falls, with mostly yellow and orange-red leaves.
Saratoga County: Expect a 20% change in Saratoga Springs by the weekend, with bright seasonal colors. A 20% change is also predicted near 20% in Rotterdam, with mostly green leaves and small patches of yellow, orange, copper and muted crimson.
Central New York fall foliage
Schoharie County: A 65% color change in Sharon Springs is expected by the weekend, with a medley of fall colors.
Otsego County: Spotters predict a 40% change in Cherry Valley with some hillsides fully enrobed in yellow, orange and red, and a 30% change in Cooperstown with oranges and yellows
Oneida County: Expect a 35% color transition in Utica by the weekend, with muted-to-average shades of yellow, red and orange.
Chenango County: A 35% change in Norwich is predicted by the weekend, with small pockets of red, yellow and orange amid mostly green leaves.
Broome County: Spotters predict a 30% foliage change in Binghamton with average-to-bright colors.
Herkimer County: Spotters predict a 25% change in Herkimer with a few touches of yellow and orange.
Madison County: More than a 10% color change in Cazenovia is expected by the weekend, with an emerging mix of fall hues.
Montgomery County: Expect around a 10% change in Fonda with mostly red and yellow leaves.
Chautauqua-Allegheny fall foliage
Cattaraugus County: A 45% change is predicted in Salamanca at Allegany State Park with maples showing some yellow and red leaves. Spotters predict a 35% foliage change in Little Valley by the weekend, with bright yellow leaves and some touches of orange and red.
Chautauqua County: Expect a 20% change in Chautauqua, with hints of yellow and orange beginning to pop through the mostly green backdrop.
Finger Lakes fall foliage

Cortland County: Expect a 45% change in Cortland and Marathon by the weekend, with lots of yellows and oranges along with some reds and purples of average to bright brilliance.
Steuben County: Observers predict a 40% color change in Corning, Hammondsport, Bath and Hornell with mostly orange leaves.
Cayuga County: A 35% change is also predicted in Moravia and Locke, with lots of dark reds. Observers predict a 25% color transition in Auburn by the weekend, with mostly muted reds and yellows.
Tioga County: By the weekend, expect a 25% color transition in Owego, with touches of red and yellow leaves.
Ontario County: Spotters predict a 20% color change in Canandaigua, with touches of bright red and yellow leaves. A 10% color transition is also predicted in Farmington with muted pockets of seasonal colors.
Tompkins County: Spotters expect a 20% color change in Ithaca and Trumansburg by the weekend, with bright reds, oranges and yellows emerging.
Livingston County: In Geneseo, expect a 15% change by the weekend, with wisps of red leaves. Spotters also predict a 15% change in Mt. Morris, at the north end of Letchworth State Park. Foliage is predominantly yellow with reds and oranges also starting to appear. Birches are now yellow, and both red and sugar maples are starting to change.
Onondaga County: Spotters predict a 15% change in Syracuse with mostly green leaves and spots of yellow, red and brown.
Monroe County: Spotters predict a 15% change in Greece by the weekend, with lighter greens, yellows, purples and reds appearing.
Wayne County: In Lyons, a 15% color change is predicted by the weekend, with shades of yellow and orange emerging.
Chemung County: Spotters predict a 15% change in Elmira with bright foliage, especially on early maples.
Seneca County: Spotters predict a 30% color transition in Waterloo with some bright reds and golds and a 15% change in Seneca Falls with bright yellow and red leaves starting to emerge.
Schuyler County: In Watkins Glen, expect a 5% color transition by the weekend.
Yates County: Expect up to 10% change in Penn Yan by the weekend.
Greater Niagara fall foliage
Niagara County: Spotters predict a 25% change in Niagara Falls by the weekend, with lots of yellow and touches of red and orange.
Wyoming County: At the southern end of Letchworth Sate Park and Castile, expect a 15% color transition with seasonal colors starting to appear. Birches are now yellow, and both red and sugar maples are starting to change.
Orleans County: In Albion, expect a15% color transition by the weekend with a small mix of fall colors.
Genesee County: Observers predict a 10% change in Batavia with with mostly yellow-green leaves with touches of orange spotted through the area.
Erie County: Spotters expect less than 10% foliage change in Buffalo and East Aurora, which has mostly green leaves with subtle accents of yellow and warm brown..
Thousand Islands-Seaway fall foliage
St. Lawrence County: Expect a 50% change in Potsdam by the weekend, with bright reds, oranges, purples and yellows. Spotters also predict a 50% color transition at Eisenhower Lock in Massena, with muted yellows, oranges, touches of red, and some leaf droppage.
Jefferson County: A 50% foliage change is predict by the weekend in Alexandria Bay with orange, yellow and a few shades of red.
Oswego County: Observers predict a 30% change in Pulaski with pops of reddish-orange leaves and variety of purple shades. A 15% color transition is expected in Oswego with average shades of green dominating the cityscape, along with varying shades of purple mixed in, and a few pops of reddish-orange hues.
Hudson Valley fall foliage

Ulster County: A 50% color transition is expected by the weekend in Kingston with shades of yellow and red. Spotters also predict a 40% change in New Paltz with bright shades of yellow, gold and orange starting to show.
Columbia County: Spotters predict a 25% foliage change in Hudson, with mostly green and yellow leaves with splashes of orange and red.
Orange County: Observers predict a 20% change in Goshen by the weekend, with orange, yellow, and a few red shades starting to emerge. A 20% change is predicted in Greenville, with fall colors starting to emerge. A 10% color transition is expected in Cornwall and Newburgh with some touches of yellow and red.
Westchester County: In White Plains and Jefferson Valley, expect up to a 20% color change by the weekend, with some red-orange leaves.
Dutchess County: Expect a 10% color change in Beacon and Poughkeepsie, with red and yellow leaves. A 15% transition is predicted in Fishkill, with shades of yellow and red.
Rockland County: Spotters predict less than a 10% change in Pomona and in Orangeburg by the weekend, with touches of orange and red, plus some yellow starting to pop. A 5% color change at Bear Mountain State Park is expected, with muted red and yellow leaves emerging
Putnam County: Less than 5% change in Cold Spring is predicted, with very limited, muted yellow leaves appearing, and a few red or orange leaves.
Long Island fall foliage
Nassau County: Spotters report a 40% foliage change at at Mill Pond Park in Wantagh with red, yellow and orange leaves on trees surrounding the pond.. They also predict a 15% change at Hempstead Lake State Park in West Hempstead with splashes of eggplant and crimson of mixed brilliance. A 5% color change is also expected in Farmingdale and East Meadow, which has some red, yellow and orange leaves.
Suffolk County: Expect a 40% change at Belmont Lake State Park in West Babylon with red, yellow and orange leaves. A bit more than a 5% color change along the North Shore is predicted by the weekend, with some red and yellow leaves. A 5% change at Mashomack Preserve on Shelter Island with mostly green leaves.
New York City fall foliage
A 20% color transition is expected on the Lower East Side of Manhattan by the weekend, with some yellow leaves emerging. A 10% change is predicted on Upper East Side in Central Park in Manhattan, with mostly green leaves and some muted browns. A 5% color transition is also predicted in Jackson Heights in Queens, with touches of red and yellow.
