An Albany woman was arrested after State Police said she stopped her vehicle in traffic and attacked five other vehicles with a tire iron during a series of incidents Friday morning in Albany and Guilderland.
Davia D. Morrison, 33, of Albany, faces multiple felony and misdemeanor charges, including three counts of second-degree criminal mischief, State Police said.
The incidents occurred between 9 and 10 a.m. and caused thousands of dollars in vehicle damage, according to State Police.
State Police investigate 5 vehicle attacks
Troopers said Morrison was driving a gray Honda Accord when she allegedly stopped in a lane of travel, forcing the vehicle behind her to stop.
She then allegedly got out of her vehicle carrying a tire iron and struck the victim's vehicle multiple times before returning
to her vehicle and driving away, State Police said.
The five incidents were reported at:
- About 9:13 a.m. on Southern Boulevard in Albany.
- About 9:19 a.m. on Interstate 787 southbound in Albany.
- About 9:30 a.m. on Interstate 90 westbound in Albany.
- About 9:37 a.m. on Interstate 87 southbound in Guilderland.
- About 9:48 a.m. on Crossgates Mall Road in Guilderland.
State Police said all of the victims were unknown to Morrison. Two of the vehicles contained children, and no injuries were reported.
Albany woman faces multiple charges
Morrison was charged with:
- Three counts of second-degree criminal mischief, a Class D felony.
- Third-degree criminal mischief, a Class E felony.
- Five counts of fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a Class A misdemeanor.
- Five counts of second-degree reckless endangerment, a Class A misdemeanor.
- Five counts of second-degree menacing, a Class A misdemeanor.
- Two counts of endangering the welfare of a child, a Class A misdemeanor.
- Fourth-degree criminal mischief, a Class A misdemeanor.
- Numerous vehicle and traffic law violations.
The Albany Police Department located Morrison in the area of Holland Avenue and took her into custody, according to State Police.
Morrison released under probation supervision
The Menands Police Department also arrested, processed and arraigned Morrison on charges related to a similar incident in its jurisdiction, State Police said.
Morrison was then transferred to State Police custody and processed at the State Police barracks in Latham. She was arraigned in Guilderland Town Court on the State Police charges and released under the supervision of the Albany County Probation Department.
She was later turned over to the Watervliet Police Department to face additional pending charges connected to similar incidents in that jurisdiction, according to State Police.
