A former Penfield Central School District employee has been indicted on charges of rape and sexual abuse.
What are the charges against Peyton Pace?
Peyton Pace was arraigned in Monroe County Court on Thursday, Oct. 8, after being indicted on six counts, according to the Monroe County District Attorney’s Office.
The indictment charges Pace with three counts of third-degree rape, a felony, and three counts of third-degree sexual abuse, a misdemeanor.
Because of the nature of the allegations, the District Attorney’s Office could not provide further details about the charges or investigation, including when the alleged incidents occurred. Officials confirmed that all six charges stem from Pace’s alleged actions involving one other person.
The District Attorney’s Office led the investigation
that resulted in the indictment.
What Penfield schools said about the charges
Penfield Central School District Superintendent Tasha Potter informed district parents this week about Pace’s Oct. 8 arraignment. Potter said the district could not share details about the case but confirmed that Pace has not worked for the district since January.
District officials did not disclose how long Pace worked for Penfield schools or what position he held.
Potter acknowledged that news of the charges “can cause fear and concerns about student safety.”
“I take any allegations of child harm very seriously,” she said in the letter, adding that district officials “will always be proactive in notifying and working with law enforcement and local agencies should we believe a child is in danger.”
