The four-day Lima Crossroads Festival will kick off Thursday, July 30, with a Family Fun Night, a parade, food trucks and live music.
Admission is free all four days.
Food trucks will start selling food
and beverages at 4 p.m. July 30 throughout the festival site and will continue throughout the festival. Family Fun Night will start at 5 p.m. at Lima Crossroads Church, 1.574 Rochester St.
The parade will begin at 6 p.m., with participants lining up on Garden Street in South Lima, Livingston County.
Four bands will perform starting at 6:30 p.m., two each at the Festival East Tent and the Festival West Tent.
Children’s events will start at 10 a.m. Friday, July 31, and continue on the Festival West and Festival East lawns. Starting at noon, craft vendors will sell items on the Festival West lawn, and the Lima Public Library, 1872 Genesee St., will hold a book sale.
Children’s events, craft vendor and food truck sales and live music will continue throughout the festival, and the library book sale will be held through Saturday, Aug. 1.
Among the unique events each day:
∎ The Lima Bean 5K will start at 8 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 1, at Lima Crossroads Church, with packet pickup from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday at The Normal BBQ, 1887 Rochester St. The fee is $32.80 for people ages 8 and older; the price increases after 11:59 p.m. July 25. Younger children can participate for free, and runners can use strollers for them. Sign up at https://runsignup.com/Race/NY/Lima/LimaBean5K. Participants also should bring a non-perishable food item, with no glass, for the Lima Food Pantry.
Pets are not allowed.
Proceeds help keep the festival admission free and benefit three charities: Lima Volunteer Ambulance; Teresa House, a comfort care home in Geneseo that provides end-of-life care; and Friends in Service Helping (FISH) of Honeoye Falls/Lima, which provides emergency food assistance and transportation to medical appointments.
∎ Lima’s Famous Bed Race will start at 1 p.m. Saturday at Festival East. The “bed” must have wheels, two sheets, a pillow with a pillowcase and a teddy bear. Rental beds are available for $95. Fifteen teams of five will include a person on the bed to shoot a basketball and four people pushing it around the course, which includes filling a bedpan. The entry fee is $65. Go to https://limafest.org/event/bed-race/ to sign up.Prizes are $300 for first place, $100 for second place and $50 for third place. 501(c)3 organizations can race for free, but will not be eligible for prize money.
The race will benefit Teresa House, Lima Ambulance, the Lima Food Pantry and the American Legion veterans program Regiment 282.
∎ At 2 p.m. Saturday, people can fly drones at Festival Lawn East and move materials with equipment. The Drone Alley and Construction Zone events will be repeated at noon Sunday, Aug. 2.∎On Sunday, Aug. 2, a barbecue Rib Fest competition will be held from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Lima Fire Department parking lot, with check-ins from 7 to 8. It will be opened to the public at 10 a.m., and results will be announced at 4. The top three teams will receive trophies.
