The National Weather Service confirmed an EF1 tornado touched down in Monroe and Wayne counties Wednesday evening, bringing the total number of tornadoes from the Sept. 2 storm event to seven.
The tornado was confirmed Saturday after an NWS damage survey in eastern Monroe County and western Wayne County.
EF1 tornado traveled from Webster to Ontario
The tornado touched down about 7:30 p.m. Sept. 2 near Salt Road in Webster, just north of Route 104, according to the NWS.
The tornado crossed Route 104 and continued southeast through Webster before entering Wayne County. It traveled 3.23 miles before lifting about 7:34 p.m. near Ontario.
The tornado had an estimated peak wind speed of 105 mph and a maximum path width of 130 yards.
No injuries or fatalities were reported.
Homes, trees damaged along tornado path
The NWS said several softwood
trees were snapped near Salt Road before the tornado crossed Route 104.
More concentrated damage was reported near Basket Road and Ridge Road, where hardwood trees were snapped or uprooted and several power poles were knocked down.
The tornado then moved toward a subdivision west of County Line Road, where the most significant damage occurred. Several homes on Halesworth Lane and Bannerwood Drive sustained roof uplift, shingle loss and siding damage.
Numerous trees also were snapped or uprooted in the subdivision, with additional tree damage reported along Foxworth Drive and North Lincoln Road.
The NWS said the tornado eventually lifted after causing extensive tree damage at a property with numerous mature trees.
NWS continues reviewing Sept. 2 tornadoes
The Webster and Ontario tornado was rated EF1 on the Enhanced Fujita Scale, which classifies tornadoes based on estimated wind speeds and damage.
The NWS said its findings are preliminary and could change following a final review and publication in NWS Storm Data.
