Linebacker Mike Danna released; DJ Moore may be out
05:20 PM ET, October 12 2026, Sal MaioranaThe Bills made their game-day roster moves a little while ago and the most interesting decision was releasing the veteran outside linebacker who had signed as a free agent from the Chiefs in the offseason.
Danna had been on the practice squad with the exception of Week 2 when Ed Oliver suffered a hip injury in pre-game warmup and Danna had to be elevated. He played just nine snaps that night, and then he was back to the practice squad.
The release was to make room for cornerback Anthony Kendall who was signed from the practice squad because it looks like Dee Alford won’t be able to play.
The Bills also elevated defensive tackle Phidarian Mathis and wide receiver Trent Sherfield. Mathis is up because Oliver is going to miss another game, and with Sherfield coming up, that’s a clear sign DJ Moore isn’t playing. Joe Brady already said Joshua Palmer is out and Skyler Bell would be active, so the Sherfield elevation is bad news for the Bills.
It’s possible Moore gives it a go and Sherfield is just insurance, but it seems unlikely. The time has come for Moore to rest his damaged shoulder.
