When it comes to Section V field hockey, the mighty not fallen. Pittsford Mendon remains the team to beat in Class B.
The Mendon Vikings have made it through the regular season undefeated. Their next mission is to see if they can repeat as Section V Class B champions. The Class B tournament begins Oct. 27, Class A Oct. 26.
This brings us to two questions.
Can any team take down the Vikings?
If your answer is yes, then which of the three candidates below can you see pulling off the upset?
Anyone willing to elaborate on their answer is welcome to email James Johnson at JAMESJ@Gannett.com.
Which team can you see defeating Pittsford Mendon in the Section V Class B Tournament?
- Irondequoit Eagles (10-4-1), a team that was undefeated after nine games, including a 1-1 tie with Mendon on Sept. 14.
- Pittsford Sutherland (9-5-1). Mendon's main rival that has just as much pride in its program.
- Eastridge Lancers (7-8-0) with Nicole Vicente, who has tried out for a spot in the "development pathway" to the national women's team, played in the AAU Summer Olympics and scored 20 goals this season in Section V.
- None of the above. Can't see 2025 Democrat and Chronicle All-Greater Rochester midfielder Julia Koomen and company prevented from advancing out of Section V.
