There are only two more Sundays without NFL games in 2026.
Unfortunately for football fans, this is one of them.
There are no NFL games Sunday, Aug. 30, after the preseason concluded Saturday. Each of the NFL's 32 teams played three preseason games.
The 2026 NFL regular season kicks off Wednesday, Sept. 9, followed by another game Thursday and the first full Sunday of football on Sept. 13.
There is still plenty of NFL action happening Sunday, just not on the field. Teams have until 6 p.m. ET to trim their rosters from 90 players to the regular-season limit of 53.

Are there any NFL games today?
No. There are no NFL games scheduled for Sunday, Aug. 30.
The NFL preseason ended Saturday, Aug. 29. The Chicago
Bears and Tennessee Titans played the final preseason game Saturday night.
The league now has a break before the regular season begins Sept. 9.
When does the 2026 NFL season start?
The 2026 NFL regular season begins Wednesday, Sept. 9, when the New England Patriots visit the Seattle Seahawks at in a Super Bowl rematch at 8:20 p.m. on NBC.
The San Francisco 49ers and Los Angeles Rams play at at 8:35 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 10 on Netflix.
The first full Sunday of the NFL season is Sept. 13, with 13 games scheduled.
What is happening in the NFL today?
There aren't any games, but Sunday is one of the most consequential days of the NFL preseason.
Teams entered the weekend with rosters of as many as 90 players and have until 6 p.m. ET Sunday to reduce them to 53 players.
That means about 1,184 players around the league will be released or waived as teams construct their initial regular-season rosters.
