A driver died after her car crashed into a tractor-trailer on Interstate 81 in Onondaga County Wednesday morning, according to New York State Police.
Car crashes into tractor-trailer on I-81
The fatal crash occurred around 10:45 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 2, in Tully. A 24-year-old Binghamton, New York, woman was driving north in the passing lane when she lost control of her car on the wet roadway, troopers said.
The car struck a guiderail before entering the travel lanes and hitting a northbound tractor-trailer at a right angle.
Driver dies at scene
The woman, whose name was not released, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to State Police.
The tractor-trailer driver, a 54-year-old man from Rockland County, was not injured. The truck is owned by CW Bulk Transportation of Port Jervis, New Jersey.
Weather a factor
The crash
is believed to be weather-related, according to State Police. Wet roadway conditions were reported at the time of the crash.
