Multiple law enforcement and emergency agencies are searching Lake Ontario for a missing person reported in the water about 1.5 miles offshore from Charlotte Pier, according to the Monroe County Sheriff's Office.
The search began Saturday evening after the Sheriff's Office Marine Unit learned through the maritime emergency channel that a person was missing in the water near the pier. The report was later supported by multiple 911 calls, authorities said.

The Monroe County Sheriff's Office, Rochester Police Department, Rochester Fire Department, Irondequoit Fire Department, West Webster Fire Department, U.S. Coast Guard and New York State Police Aviation are involved in the search.

remained in the area Saturday night as the search continued, authorities said.
