An 11-year-old boy died Sunday after a go-kart carrying two juveniles rolled into a pond in Genesee County, according to the Genesee County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies responded at about 2:32 p.m. Sept. 6 to Fargo Road in the town of Darien for a report of a go-kart rollover into a pond.
The 11-year-old male operator was transported by Mercy Flight to Strong Memorial Hospital. He was pronounced dead after arriving at the hospital, the Sheriff's Office said.
An 8-year-old girl was treated by medical personnel at the scene and released.
Investigation ongoing
The Genesee County Sheriff's Office is investigating the incident. No further information was available Sunday, according to the Sheriff's Office.
