Something sweet is headed back to Costco.
Two years after Costco Wholesale discontinued its Kirkland Signature semi-sweet chocolate chips, the retailer has brought the popular product back.
Costco's store-brand chocolate chips are back
Costco's Kirkland Signature Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips have returned to stores and are available online.
The 4.5-pound bag is listed for $11.99 to $14.99, according to Costco's website. Prices may vary by location.
In July 2024, customers began posting on Reddit and social media that they had noticed an asterisk next to the chocolate chips' price at Costco stores. The symbol, sometimes referred to as the "death star," can indicate that a product is being discontinued, is seasonal or is undergoing a packaging or quantity change.
The Kirkland Signature chocolate
chips were discontinued in mid-2024 amid rising cocoa prices. Costco continued selling other brands of semi-sweet chocolate chips, including Nestlé Toll House morsels.
The Nestlé chips are also available at Costco and currently cost $16.99 for a 4.5-pound bag, according to the company's website.
