A 47-year-old Rochester man died Wednesday after a crash on Monroe Avenue, police said.
Driver dies after Rochester crash
Rochester police officers responded to the 800 block of Monroe Avenue around 2:50 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 19, for a report of a crash with injuries.
Officers found a single-vehicle crash involving an unresponsive driver. Rochester firefighters and AMR also responded and treated the driver at the scene.
The 47-year-old city resident was taken by ambulance to Strong Memorial Hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
Vehicle struck utility pole
A preliminary investigation found that the vehicle was traveling on Field Street and failed to stop at a traffic signal at Monroe Avenue, police said.
The vehicle continued across Monroe Avenue and struck a utility pole before overturning.
The investigation
remains ongoing. Police said there is currently no indication of criminality associated with the crash.
