A woman was killed Friday after two vehicles collided at an intersection in Hounsfield, Jefferson County, according to New York State Police.
Two vehicles collide in Hounsfield
The crash happened around 4:49 p.m. Sept. 18 at the intersection of State Route 3 and County Route 66, State Police said.
A preliminary investigation found that an 83-year-old woman from New Hartford was driving a 2016 Honda Fit north on County Route 66 and attempting to cross State Route 3 to State Route 180.
Police said the Honda Fit failed to yield at a stop sign and entered the path of a 2024 Honda CR-V traveling east on State Route 3. The CR-V was driven by a 55-year-old woman from Sackets Harbor.
The vehicles collided, and both drivers were taken to Samaritan Medical Center.

The driver of the Honda Fit
was later pronounced dead at the hospital, police said.
The driver of the Honda CR-V was also transported to the hospital. Police did not provide information about her condition.
Investigation ongoing
The investigation remains ongoing. State Police did not immediately release additional information.
