A California man was killed and a Canandaigua woman was injured in a three-vehicle crash Friday night on the New York State Thruway in Genesee County, according to New York State Police.
California man killed in LeRoy crash
The crash happened at about 10:48 p.m. Sept. 4 on Interstate 90 eastbound near mile marker 379.7 in the town of LeRoy, police said.
The driver of a pickup truck, identified as Josias Perez, 26, of Caruthers, California, was pronounced dead.
A preliminary investigation determined that Perez was traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes of I-90 when the pickup collided with an SUV. A tractor-trailer also was involved.
The SUV driver, Katie L. Briggs, 44, of Canandaigua, was transported to Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester with internal injuries.
The two occupants
of the tractor-trailer were not injured.
Investigation continues
The eastbound lanes of I-90 were temporarily closed while state police conducted a crash reconstruction.
The New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation in Troop A and Collision Reconstruction Unit are assisting with the investigation.
The investigation remains ongoing. Additional information will be released as it becomes available.
