Police have identified the man whose body was found Sunday near the Genesee River Trail in Rochester.
Body identified as Rochester man
Officers were called to a wooded area near Vincent Street and the Genesee River Trail, just south of the Bausch Street bridge, around 12:30 p.m. Sunday and found the body of Munga Elocho, 22, of Rochester, Rochester police Capt. Frank Umbrino said.
Elocho was identified through fingerprints. Umbrino said Elocho was originally from the Republic of the Congo in Central Africa.
Police investigate potential homicide
Umbrino said investigators believe Elocho may have been killed at another location and that his body was later moved to the wooded area where it was found.
His cause and manner of death have not been released.
Detectives are working to determine when and where Elocho was killed
and the circumstances surrounding his death. The Monroe County Medical Examiner's Office is assisting with the investigation.
Detectives seek information
No charges have been filed, and no one is in custody in connection with the case, Umbrino said.
