Autumn
officially begins Tuesday, Sept. 22, and farms and orchards across New York are preparing for one of their busiest seasons of the year.
Thousands of people flock to the Empire State each year to see the fall foliage, attend Halloween events and take part in seasonal activities such as apple and pumpkin picking.
Another fall favorite for families — and especially kids — is navigating corn and hay mazes, which can be found at many farms and orchards across the state.

New York City and Long Island
- Stakey's Pumpkin Farm — RiverheadStakey's Pumpkin Farm offers a unique, interactive adventure through its 3-acre corn maze. Visitors complete a trivia game, with the correct answers helping guide them to the exit.270 West Lane, Riverhead
- Harbes Family Farm — Multiple locationsEach Harbes Family Farm location features a uniquely themed maze. Visitors can step into the world of "The Wizard of Oz" at the Mattituck location, celebrate America's 250th anniversary at the Jamesport location or explore Sherwood Forest in a Robin Hood-themed maze at the Riverhead location. The corn mazes at the Jamesport and Riverhead locations are available for purchase only through the farm's combo package on weekends and holidays. - Outhouse Orchards — WestchesterOuthouse Orchards' 5-acre corn maze takes about 30 to 45 minutes to complete. Employees are stationed around the maze to help visitors who get lost. - Critz Farms — CazenoviaThis year's maze at Critz Farms is designed as a giant steam engine train, complete with crop circles and challenging twists and turns. Maze access is included with a weekend admission ticket, which also comes with a map to help guests navigate. Wristbands are required to enter the maze on weekdays.
