A man found guilty in the 2022 Augusta shooting death of a 42-year-old restaurant employee has been ordered to prison for the rest of his life.
Ravanell Gomillion was 40 and high on cocaine on June 14, 2022, when Richmond County prosecutors say he attacked his girlfriend, Patricia Rouse, and Eurl Kittles. Rouse and Kittles worked at the Captain D's at 3166 Wrightsboro Road.
Gomillion demanded entry into the restaurant, assaulted Rouse then emptied his gun into Kittles in a "jealous rage," according to authorities.
"Eurl Kittles was just doing his job, fixing a deep fryer in the restaurant when Gomillion pulled a revolver and fired six rounds," Augusta Judicial Circuit
District Attorney Jared Williams said in a statement. "This execution-style killing was the result of senseless violence and an abandoned, malignant heart."
A jury Thursday found Gomillion guilty on all counts: malice murder; felony murder; possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony; and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Superior Court Judge Jesse Stone sentenced Gomillion to life in prison plus 15 years. Imposing the maximum penalty was triggered under Georgia's "Seven Deadly Sins" law after the D.A.'s office filed a brief with the court declaring Gomillion a career criminal previously convicted of a violent felony.
