Longtime Augusta-area builder Mark Ivey, co-owner of Ivey Homes, was recently installed as president of the Home Builders Association of Georgia, where he plans to focus on housing affordability, local association support and advocacy for the residential construction industry.
The installation took place this month during the association's Fall Meeting at The Ritz-Carlton Reynolds Lake Oconee, according to a community announcement. Ivey succeeds Gabe Chatham of the Greater Atlanta Home Builders Association.
A second-generation builder with experience in engineering, land development and residential construction, Ivey said rising construction costs, interest rates and regulatory
requirements continue to create affordability challenges for Georgia homebuyers.
He outlined four priorities for his term: growing membership, strengthening local advocacy, improving communications and providing greater support for local association executive officers.
