Dutch Bros to open Augusta drive-thru by year's end

Another beverage business is coming to Augusta's growing coffee corridor.

Dutch Bros plans to open one of its drive-thru kiosks at 3064 Washington Road, the company officially announced Tuesday.

The location, formerly the site of Mexican restaurant Mi Rancho, is between Burger King and Chick-fil-A. It joins popular chain coffee businesses Starbucks, 7 Brew, Dunkin' and Caribou Coffee on a less-than-half-mile stretch of Washington Road west of the Interstate 20 interchange.

Dutch Bros serves specialty coffee, smoothies, teas, nitrogen-infused cold-brew coffee and Rebel, the company's proprietary and customizable energy drink containing about 80 milligrams

of caffeine per cup.

The 986-square-foot kiosk is expected to open by the end of the year, according to the company. The Augusta location will be Dutch Bros' 13th in Georgia. Currently, the closest Dutch Bros is in Statesboro.

The property is being offered for sale under an absolute NNN lease, or triple-net lease. As the tenant, Dutch Bros will pay all taxes, insurance and upkeep costs on the property over 15 years. With a stable income and few property management responsibilities, the property's new landlord would mostly just collect rent.

Dutch Bros originated in Grants Pass, Ore., in 1992 with brothers Dane and Travis Boersma and a single espresso pushcart. Since then, the chain, now headquartered in Tempe, Ariz., has grown to more than 1,200 locations.
