One of the world's biggest discount fashion retailers will open its new 28,000-square-foot store at Augusta Mall on Sept 10.
Primark's store in the mall's former Sears location will be just the second in Georgia, after the first Primark is scheduled to open Sept. 8 at Sugarloaf Mills in Lawrenceville.
"We know that Primark’s outstanding value is more important than ever to today’s consumers, and we’re looking forward to welcoming customers in the culturally rich and historic city of Augusta," said Primark U.S. President Kevin Tulip in a statement.
The doors will open at noon with a live DJ, local food and first-come, first-served giveaways.
Primark also will play host
to a pair of 90-minute "Love It for Longer" in-store workshops that teach "simple mending and upcycling techniques, from fixing hems to adding buttons or pockets," according to the company.
The workshops will be at 1:30 and 4 p.m. on Sept. 11.
The Augusta Chronicle first reported in March 2025 that the Dublin, Ireland-headquartered company had signed a lease agreement to occupy an anchor tenant spot at Augusta Mall.
Primark opened its first store in Dublin in 1969 under the name Penneys. The company's 38 stores in Ireland still operate under that name. In other countries, however, the retailer uses the Primark brand because U.S.-based JCPenney owns the rights to the Penneys name outside Ireland.
With nearly 500 stores worldwide, Primark is often compared with retailers such as Old Navy. The company is known for selling "fast fashion," a business model that rapidly produces large quantities of trendy clothing at low prices. Other retailers that use a similar model include online companies Shein and Temu.
Primark also sells accessories, footwear, beauty products, and home goods.
