This week is sure to be a time of mourning all over the country, but especially those in the South and in the entertainment industry.
It was announced on Tuesday that Dolly Parton has died. Her life and work garnered love throughout the country as an actress, singer, business woman, and someone who did a lot for those in need.

The announcement was made in a video on Parton's Instagram with Bryan Seaver, nephew to Parton, speaking on behalf of the family:
How did Dolly Parton die?
We don't know the cause of death. Parton shared an update on Friday, discussing how she had been "dealing with some health issues that I just didn't pay attention to" while she was caring for her husband, Carl Dean, who died last year.
According to People,
Parton also said at the time "I'm still healing,' I'm still workin'! You know me — as I’ve often said — I’ve dreamed myself into a corner and I still have so many things I want to achieve, so I’m gonna keep on working as long as I can to see everything come to life."

Parton turned 80 this year on Jan. 19.
Georgia connections to Dolly Parton
Parton and Dean got married at a chapel in Ringgold in north Georgia in 1966. It was a small, private ceremony kept out of the public eye, with only the pastor, the pastor's wife, and Parton's mother in attendance.
Parton also filmed multiple movies/shows in Georgia, including 2012's "Joyful Noise," then "Dolly Parton's Coat of Many Colors" in 2015, followed by "Dolly Parton's Christmas of Many Colors: Circle of Love" in 2016, and "Dolly Parton's Heartstrings" in 2019.
Her music tours also featured stops in the Peach State.
