Aiken Regional Medical Centers has been named a High Performing hospital for pacemaker implantation and for leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma care in U.S. News & World Report’s 2026-27 Best Hospitals edition.
The designation is the highest awarded in U.S. News’ Procedures & Conditions ratings. Less than half of the nearly 4,500 hospitals evaluated received recognition in any of 37 specialties, procedures and conditions.
“Being recognized as High Performing by U.S. News reflects the exceptional care our physicians, nurses and care teams provide,” said Matt Merrifield, chief executive officer of Aiken Regional Medical Centers. He said the hospital remains focused on quality, safety
and clinical outcomes for patients receiving scheduled, emergency and complex care.
U.S. News said its ratings are intended to help patients and health care providers make informed treatment decisions. Hospitals are assessed using measures including risk-adjusted mortality, preventable complications and patient experience.
“A ‘High Performing’ rating means that Aiken Regional outperformed a national threshold,” said Ben Harder, U.S. News managing editor and chief of health analysis.
