A Richmond County sheriff’s deputy has been arrested and terminated following an investigation into the alleged theft of time while working off-duty assignments.
The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office said its Criminal Investigation Division concluded an investigation that resulted in the Sept. 3 arrest of Deputy Calvin Swann. He was booked into the Charles B. Webster Detention Center and charged with felony theft by deception and felony violation of oath of office.
Following the investigation and arrest, Swann’s employment with the sheriff’s office was terminated, according to a news release.
Sheriff Eugene Brantley said in a statement that the agency will continue to hold employees accountable
and maintain high standards of integrity and professionalism.
“The citizens of Richmond County expect and deserve the highest level of integrity from every member of this sheriff’s office,” Brantley said. “When an employee violates that trust, we will take the appropriate action.”
The sheriff’s office said the case reflects its commitment to conducting thorough investigations and upholding accountability, integrity, and professionalism in serving the community.
