The Augusta Ballet will perform a free ballet production at the Columbia County Amphitheater in the Evans Towne Center on Saturday.
This is one of the three shows the ballet performs each year and begins at 10:30 a.m., said Jessica Jones, executive director of the Augusta Ballet.
The performance will feature 70 ballet dancers executing several excerpts from five of Augusta Ballet’s most popular repertoire performances, she said. The finale presentation will be a ballet based on "The Selfish Giant," a story by Oscar Wilde and performed by the ballet's elite company class.
The ballet partnered with Columbia County to present the ballet at the amphitheater as a way to make it free for people to attend, Jones said. The county's Performing Arts Center
is expensive to rent for performances, so by using the amphitheater there's no admission fee.
Also, during the show, raffles will be held to give away tickets to upcoming performances and a free month a ballet classes. Raffle tickets are available at the ballet school at 639 Fury's Ferry Road in Evans.
