The City of Aiken Parks, Recreation and Tourism Department will bring back its Fall Story Time program beginning Sept. 1. The free weekly sessions start at 4 p.m. on the grounds of Rye Patch, 100 Berrie Road, and are designed to encourage literacy, learning and imaginative play for children and families.
Each Story Time will feature books centered on a different theme, including camping, manners, harvest, emotions, fairy tales, desserts, Aiken animals and Halloween. Organizers said every family attending will receive a free book to take home. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets, along with snacks and drinks, for the outdoor events.
The city is also asking guests
to donate gently used children's books to help restock the Little Free Library behind the Doll House at Hopelands Gardens. The library, installed in 2017, offers a free book exchange for readers of all ages.
