Parker’s Kitchen donated $100,000 to support public schools and hunger-relief efforts across the Augusta region on Sept. 28. The funding will benefit three school districts and Golden Harvest Food Bank, according to a community announcement.
The Savannah-based convenience store company presented $60,000 through its Fueling the Community program to the Richmond County School System, Columbia County School District and Aiken County Public Schools during a Rotary Club of Augusta luncheon at Enterprise Mill.
The program directs a portion of fuel sales from the first Wednesday of each month to local education initiatives. Since launching in 2011, Fueling the Community has raised
more than $3.5 million for schools in communities served by Parker’s Kitchen.
The company also donated $40,000 to Golden Harvest Food Bank to help address food insecurity across the Central Savannah River Area. The contribution came from a customer round-up campaign that supports food banks in Georgia and South Carolina. Parker’s Kitchen matched 25% of customer donations collected during the campaign.
“At Parker’s Kitchen, we want to be a great neighbor and to support the causes that matter most to our customers across the CRSA community,” founder and Executive Chairman Greg Parker said.
Parker’s Kitchen operates 115 stores in Georgia and South Carolina and has donated more than $30 million to charitable causes, according to the announcement. The company, founded in Midway in 1976, employs nearly 2,000 people and is celebrating its 50th anniversary.
