What is the story about?
Richmond County school police on Thursday detained a parent with a gun in the parking lot of Hephzibah High School.
"Public Safety officers quickly secured the area and detained the parent involved," HHS Principal Chris Nabahe said in a letter sent to students' parents. "No students or staff members were involved or injured, and the incident did not disrupt normal school operations."
Law enforcement is investigating, "and appropriate actions are being taken in accordance with school system policies and applicable law," Nabahe said.
Nabahe issued a reminder that weapons are not allowed on school property.
