Two Richmond County School System graduates have been selected for the inaugural Augusta cohort of the Earl Woods Scholar Program, a national college access and scholarship initiative operated by the TGR
Foundation.
Kaesha Ford, a graduate of Westside High School, and Kaleyah Turmon, a graduate of John S. Davidson Fine Arts Magnet School, are among 22 students nationwide chosen for the program’s 2026 cohort. Ford plans to attend Augusta University, while Turmon will enroll at Howard University.
The students were selected from a pool of 984 applicants referred by teachers and school counselors. Scholars are chosen based on academic achievement, financial need, and commitment to community service.
As Earl Woods Scholars, Ford and Turmon will receive renewable scholarships, individualized professional mentorship, professional development opportunities, internship placement assistance and other support throughout their college careers.
Established in 2006 in honor of Tiger Woods’ father, Earl Woods, the program currently serves 96 students nationwide and boasts a 98% alumni graduation rate.
Founded by Tiger Woods in 1996, the foundation says it has served more than 217,000 students.
