The Augusta Museum of History's deputy director has been named interim executive director to serve until the new executive director is named, according to a news release from the museum.
Natalie Smith will fill the role left after the Aug. 10 death of Nancy Glaser, who had served as the museum's executive director since 2005.

Smith has been the museum's deputy director for more than three years. Before that, she was the museum's registrar from 2019 to 2023, the news release noted.
In the interim role, Smith will oversee the daily operations of the museum, guide ongoing programs, and ensure a smooth transition during the search for a new director.
