A new mural celebrating Johnston’s peach industry now covers a wall of Fiesta Mexican Restaurant along Highway 121 in downtown Johnston.
Local artist Beth Clark painted the farm scene, according to a community announcement. The artwork shows a large peach field and other agricultural images meant to remind residents and visitors of the industry’s influence on the area for more than 50 years.

Johnston Development Corp. commissioned the mural as part of its community improvement work. Chair Gaye Holmes said the prominent wall offers a good location to recognize the peach and thanked merchants and others who supported the project.
“Our organization decided that the mural on this
well-seen wall is a great location to bring additional recognition of the peach,” Holmes said.
