The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a 19-year-old Augusta man in connection with the recent killing of Tyrone Whittaker, 44.

Investigators with the sheriff’s Criminal Investigation Division charged Demarion Drinks with murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, noted a news release. Authorities said Drinks was taken into custody shortly after 2 p.m. Saturday at his residence with assistance from the sheriff’s SWAT team and CID investigators.

The arrest stems from the ongoing investigation into Whittaker’s death. Officials said no additional information was immediately available.
