A 65-year-old man on an electric bicycle died Tuesday in the third Columbia County e-bike fatality in the past month, according to the Columbia County Sheriff's Office.
Jeffery Beard was on a black e-bike in the traffic lane on the 1300 block of Old Louisville Road when he was hit and thrown from the bike by a 2010 Toyota Corolla, Columbia County Terry Norman said in a statement.
Charges are pending against the car driver, Norman said.
On Sept. 22, Sam Dees, 64, died on his e-bike after colliding with a Toyota Camry where Washington Road meets Hightower Drive in Martinez.
On Sept. 15, Kenneth Faile-Hood, 13, died on his e-bike after hitting a fallen tree limb on the west shoulder of Appling-Harlem Highway.
