Community partners will bring breast cancer screenings, a survivor celebration and a blood drive to Augusta Mall during the two-day Pinkapalooza Fest on Oct. 2-3. The event recognizes Breast Cancer Awareness Month and honors survivors, caregivers and supporters, according to a community announcement.
The festival begins with the "Reduce Your Risk" Breast Cancer Screening Event from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 2 in the Dillard's parking lot. Partners include Dillard's, the Piedmont mobile mammogram bus and the Georgia Department of Public Health Breast and Cervical Cancer Screening Program.
On Oct. 3, activities move to the fountain area near the Barnes & Noble entrance, where the fountain will
be lit pink.
A Breast Cancer Awareness Walk begins at 10 a.m. inside the mall. A Blood Connection blood drive runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., with donors receiving a $30 gift card. Organizers said 25% of blood products collected during Blood Connection drives are used to assist cancer patients.
A survivor breakfast sponsored by Toaste' Augusta starts at 10:30 a.m. The main celebration runs from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and includes entertainment, vendors, food trucks, a children's zone, a fashion show, giveaways, testimonies and line dancing. A prayer tent will be open from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The first 150 registered survivors will receive gift bags valued at $750 through a partnership with the United Breast Cancer Foundation.
