What is the story about?
The Richmond County School System has fired five school resource officers after an internal investigation and a review by the Georgia Peace Officer Standards and Training Council.
The resource officers were terminated after POST recommended revoking their peace officer certifications.
Another officer will remain employed because her certification was not recommended for revocation. She will serve a 24-month probationary period and complete an ethics course under POST guidelines.
Superintendent Malinda Cobb said the district would reinforce expectations for accountability, professionalism, and public trust within its police department.
