An Augusta-area credit union is hitting the gas pedal – literally – to bring financial services to more of its members.
SRP Federal Credit Union in North Augusta recently cut the ceremonial ribbon on its first mobile branch, a customized commercial truck containing tools to help customers manage their finances.
The mobile branch already has been stopping throughout the Augusta and Aiken areas to help people open accounts, apply for loans, use debit card services and conduct deposits and withdrawals while extending its community outreach.
The idea is to travel to scheduled public locations that might be underserved by many financial institutions. Mobile branches
also can visit sites of natural disasters or other emergency zones to provide services to recovering residents.
"At SRP, we exist to serve our member-owners in everything we do," said Shana Reid, the credit union's chief development officer. "Our new mobile branch is a reflection of that commitment, allowing us to bring financial services directly to the communities where people live, work, learn and gather."
Forthcoming SRP mobile branch stops include:
- Aug. 3, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tractor Supply, 300 Hopkins Corner Dr., Waynesboro
- Aug. 4, 8:45 a.m. to 5 p.m., SRP North Augusta branch, 403 W. Martintown Rd., North Augusta
- Aug. 7, 1:30 to 2:30 p.m., South Aiken Baptist Christian School, 980 Dougherty Road, Aiken
- Aug. 8, 10 a.m. to noon, Augusta Tech new student orientation, 320 Augusta Tech Dr., Augusta
- Aug. 10, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., 1 Pine House Road, Trenton
