WWII barnstorming show at Augusta airport
What: Georgia Barnstorming Tours comes to Augusta
When & Where: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept, 12, Augusta Regional Airport
Details: The Commemorative Air Force Airbase Georgia fleet is coming to Augusta to offer rides on the historic planes and a chance to see them up close.
To schedule rides in advance and learn more about the fleet, visit www.airbasegeorgia.org. Admission is free.
Ready for some snaky fun
What: Show Me Reptile Show! is a traveling show with reptiles, amphibians, small exotic mammals, and more. Learn about the animals; photos are allowed. Some animals are available for purchase, along with the equipment needed to care for them.
When & Where: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Sunday at the Warren Road Community Center at 300 Warren Road, in Augusta.
Details: VIP passes for early admission on Saturday are available. Advance tickets are $5 for children ages 7-12; adults, $12; and children 6 and younger are free. If purchased at the door, adult tickets are $15. A VIP Pass is available for $17 in advance and $20 at the door. For more information, visit www.facebook.com/showmereptileshow.
32nd Annual Blind Willie McTell Music Festival
What: This annual music festival returns with headliner Los Lobos, which will bring its iconic blend of rock, blues, Tex-Mex, and Americana to Thomson.
When & Where: 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday at 965 Stagecoach Rd NE, Thomson
Details: For tickets and concert information, visit www.blindwillie.com. The festival kicks off on Friday from 7-9:30 p.m. with a free concert by Blair Crimmins and The Hookers at 111 Railroad St., in Thomson. The concert is outdoors, so festival-goers should bring seating. Food is allowed, but no alcoholic beverages.
Meet a Machine
What: Get a hands-on, up-close look at all sorts of machines at Meet a Machine.
When & Where: 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Augusta Regional Airport at 1501 Aviation Way in Augusta
Details: Admission is $5 for adults. Children 12 and younger are admitted free. Various public service agencies and other businesses are bringing their machines, like police cars, fire and rescue trucks, helicopters, an airplane, a garbage truck, and more. Proceeds benefit the local Wellstar Golisano Children's Hospital of Georgia's Children's Miracle Network.
