Treat your dog to a little pampering
What: Barks N' Brews, a free event for dogs and their families.
When & Where: 5-8 p.m. Friday at the Market Pavilion, 1005 Market St. in Evans
Details: The event includes vendors with unique pet accessories, treats, and toys; on-site grooming; and nail clipping. Local rescue organizations
and animal services will be there with rescue dogs looking for a forever home. Vendors with local craft beers and food trucks will be on hand.
Watch athletes competing in the Ironman
What: The Ironman 70.3 Augusta competition has athletes competing in a race that includes swimming 1.2 miles in the Savannah River, biking 56 miles, and running 13.1 miles through the Augusta Riverwalk and the North Augusta Greenway.
When & Where: Sunday throughout the day. The earliest start is 7:15 a.m. It will be held at multiple locations, including the North Augusta Greeneway, Riverwalk, south Augusta and more.

America 250 exhibit opens
What: Exhibit that honors the 250th anniversary of the U.S. signing of the Declaration of Independence.
When & Where: The exhibit opens Friday and will be on display until Feb. 7 at the Morris Museum of Art at 1 10th St. in downtown Augusta.
Details: The works in this exhibition were selected from the museum’s holdings to honor the 250th anniversary of the United States. The exhibit includes photographs, paintings, and sculptures by Southern artists that examine and celebrate American life during that time. For more information, visit www.themorris.org.
'Raise the Roof' with the Augusta Symphony
What: The Augusta Symphony performs at the Miller Theater
When & Where: 7:30-9:30 p.m. Friday at the Miller Theater at 708 Broad St. in downtown Augusta.
Details: The symphony opens this season with music it describes as "music of brilliance, power, and optimism," setting the stage for "sweeping romantic energy and virtuosic orchestral fireworks."
