A 19-year-old volunteer football coach at a Columbia County parochial school has been charged with child molestation.
Joshua Ramsey was being held at the Columbia County Detention Center on $21,500 bond early Wednesday after he was picked up on a warrant spurred by a sexual assault investigation, according to Columbia County Sheriff's Office Maj. Andy Shedd.
Ramsey is charged with having "an inappropriate physical relationship with a 14-year-old female student," Shedd said in a statement.
The investigation began as officers answered a call Tuesday afternoon regarding a "suspicious situation/person/vehicle" at Columbia County Christian Academy, 4594 Columbia Road
in Martinez, according to a CCSO incident report.
The report's one-sentence narrative mentions only a "suspicious situation." The report lists "cyberspace" as the location of the alleged offense.
