Davidson County candidate guide for the Aug. 6 primary election

Tennessee’s primary election for federal and state candidates is Aug. 6.

Tennessee has open primaries, so voters can pick their preferred party’s ballot to select the candidates they would like to see run in the general election in November.

Davidson County residents can also use the polling place finder.

Every seat in the Tennessee House of Representatives is on the ballot this year, meaning voters will choose representatives for all 99 House districts. In the Tennessee Senate, the 17 odd-numbered districts are up for election this cycle. 

Here’s a look at who will be on the ballot

in Davidson County.

Tennessee governor

• Republican candidates: Marsha Blackburn, Monty Fritts and John Rose
• Democratic candidates: Carnita Atwater, Tim Cyr, Jerri Green, Adam "Ditch" Kurtz and Kevin Lee McCants.

U.S. Senate

• Republican candidate: Incumbent Bill Hagerty
• Democratic candidates: Marquita Bradshaw, Kevin Lee McCants, Civil Miller-Watkins and Diana Onyejiaka.

U.S. House District 4

• Republican candidates: Incumbent Scott DesJarlais, Thomas E. Davis, Joshua James and Harold "Rocky" Jones
• Democratic candidates: Victoria Broderick, Mike Cortese, Cliff Huffman, Tim Lanier and Joyce E. Neal

U.S. House District 6

• Republican candidates: Natisha Brooks, Johnny Garrett, Jon Henry and Van Hilleary
• Democratic candidates: Lore Bergman, Mike Croley, Christopher Martin Finley, Miriam Leibowitz and Chaney Mosley

U.S. House District 7

• Republican candidates: Incumbent Matt Van Epps
• Democratic candidates: Darden Copeland, Vincent Dixie, Saletta Holloway and Joshua Warren Sales

Tennessee Senate District 17

• Republican candidates: Incumbent Mark Pody and Theodore (Butch) Baker
• Democratic candidates: Joni Cochran and Lindsey Patrick-Wright

Voters will also cast ballots in the Davidson County general election, but every race is uncontested as no Republicans ran in the May primaries.
