Joey Logano is on the pole for the Enjoy Illinois 300 NASCAR Cup Series race on Sept. 13 at World Wide Technology Raceway.
Logano's lap of 32.817 seconds was two-tenths faster than Kyle Larson to take the top spot.
The driver of the No. 22 Team Penske Ford has four top-five finishes in four Cup races at Gateway including a victory.
Among Chase drivers, Chris Buescher (21st) and William Byron (24th) are starting outside the top 20.
