Longtime Nashville sports radio personalities Greg Pogue and Darren McFarland are teaming up for a new sports talk radio show.
The "Greg Pogue & Darren McFarland Show" will air weekdays from 10 a.m. CT until noon on ESPN Radio 94.9-FM The Fan starting Aug. 24.
Between the two, Pogue and McFarland have more than 50 years of sports talk radio experience in Nashville. The show will cover local sports from high schools to the pros.
Along with serving as a host or co-host on several shows over the years, Pogue handles play-by-play for the Tennessee State football team and Middle Tennessee State women's basketball team.
McFarland has served as a pregame and postgame host on the Nashville Predators Radio Network for a decade. In 2011, he was host of the first
daily sports talk show on 94.9's sister station 102.5 The Game, which will celebrate its 15th year on Aug. 29.
“I am personally excited to have two of my mentors back with us in the Cromwell family,” said Chase McCabe, director of operations and sports programming for Cromwell Nashville. “They have done a lot for me and for this market and are truly two legends. To add Greg and Darren to our local sports talk show lineup on ESPN 94.9 The Fan as well as our great lineup on ESPN 102.5 The Game is a huge win for us.”
Pogue, a former Nashville Banner sports writer and sports editor of the Daily News Journal in Murfreesboro, serves as chief operating officer and partner of the Nashville Kats, who won the Arena Football One league championship on Aug. 8. He was named the AF1 executive of the year in 2025 for the franchise that is owned by former Tennessee Titans coach Jeff Fisher.
McFarland began his Nashville sports talk radio career in 1998 alongside George Plaster and Willy Daunic on the long-running show "Sports Night." Daunic will be reunited on 94.9 with Plaster, who now has a daily show that airs 3-5 p.m. with co-host Kelly Holcomb, a former MTSU and NFL quarterback.
Metro high school game of the week
Pogue also announced the second season of the "Metro Nashville Public High Schools Game of the Week." It will air on The Game 102.5-FM starting Aug. 21, with Montgomery Bell Academy playing at Pearl-Cohn.
Play-by-play duties will be shared by McCabe and Jake Lyman, host of the "Next Man Up" daily sports talk show on The Game and the Vanderbilt women’s basketball play-by-play announcer. Nick Frazier is back as the sideline reporter.
Pogue will handle play-by-play for the first game with former Metro coach Bubba Spears as the analyst, due to a scheduling conflict with McCabe and Frazier.
The second broadcast, on Aug. 28, will be East Nashville at Antioch, followed by a Sept. 4 game featuring Lawson at Stratford.
Pogue also serves as co-host of 94.9-FM's "Prep Football Talk presented by Freeman Webb," which returned for its 15th season on Aug. 15 with co-founder and co-host Craig Ladd and Spears. It airs each Saturday at 9 a.m. through November, originating from Roy’s Meat Service in East Nashville.
