Riley Green has teamed up with Super Bowl champion and former NFL MVP Peyton Manning for a fun-loving tribute to one of college football's favorite rivalries. The country star shared a new music video for the song called "Alabama vs. Tennessee."
Released just a few days before the rivals take the field on Oct. 17, "Alabama vs. Tennessee" is a slow-grooving acoustic ballad full of football wisecracks, delivered by a pair of true fans. Green is an Alabama native and diehard supporter of the Crimson Tide. Meanwhile, Manning is a University of Tennessee legend who led the Volunteers to a conference championship in 1997.
In the track, both stars trade lyrics filled with good-natured smack talk, all about the friendly (but longstanding) gridiron feud.
The music video is set in a honky-tonk, capturing the hometown charm of a game many look forward to each year. The clip comes with an AI-content warning on social media, which may stem from a scene where Manning accidentally hits a guitar player in the face with a football.
Dubbed 'The Third Saturday in October,' the yearly meeting between the universities of Alabama and Tennessee is always highly anticipated. The series began way back in 1901. This year's contest finds the No. 14 Volunteers taking on the No. 6 Crimson Tide, and the teams have traded wins for the past five years.
How the game turns out remains to be seen, but "Alabama vs. Tennessee" finds Green riding a streak of career wins. He is now known for high-profile collaborations. He's nominated for musical event of the year alongside Carly Pearce at the upcoming 2026 CMA Awards for their duet "If I Don’t Leave I’m Gonna Stay," a hit that followed the attention-grabbing duet "You Look Like You Love Me" with Ella Langley. He has also become one of country's most talked-about male songwriters with hits like "The Worst Way" and "Change My Mind." His latest album, "That's Just Me," was released in September. Green is currently serving his first season as a coach on NBC's "The Voice." His next performance in Nashville is scheduled for Oct. 30 at The Pinnacle.
