The Tennessee Titans are down to their third option at right guard heading into the game against the Baltimore Ravens on Oct. 4.
Fernando Carmona (ankle) and Jackson Slater (foot) will each undergo surgery, Robert Saleh confirmed on Sept. 30, and go on injured reserve.
Carmona injured his ankle early in the game against the New York Giants on Sept. 27, with Slater playing in his place and finishing the game with a foot injury. Saleh said he hopes to get both players back later in the season.
Those injuries leave a hole at the position, with the two-deep now unavailable and a lack of experienced options currently on the roster.
The offensive line has been solid through three games, with Carmona earning the starting spot at right guard in his rookie
season out of camp. This will be the first test of the unit's depth.
"It's an open book," Saleh said. "I'm going to hold that one close to the vest, respectfully, guys, but every option is on the table."
What are the Titans options at right guard without Fernando Carmona, Jackson Slater?
Barring a midweek addition, the Titans have a few options on the current roster.
The Titans signed Garrett Dellinger to the 53-man roster, joining Atonio Mafi and Pat Coogan as the interior depth options on the main roster.
Coogan played at guard as a junior in college before moving to center at Indiana. Mafi has seven career NFL starts, all at guard. Dellinger has appeared in one NFL game.
Peter Skoronski is entrenched at left guard. Starting center Austin Schlottmann has NFL starting experience at guard, so moving him around could be an option.
The Titans also added Nick Broeker to the practice squad this week. Broeker has played in 12 career games, mostly on special teams.
