Vanderbilt football will be without three significant depth pieces when it takes on Arkansas.
Gunner Givens will have season-ending hip surgery that will be a six-month recovery. He had a waiver granted for an extra year of eligibility. Mitchell Smith underwent a knee clean-up procedure and is hoping to return after the open week, and Blaze Berlowitz will be out a month after undergoing surgery for a broken collarbone, Clark Lea said in his Oct. 13 press conference.
Berlowitz suffered the broken collarbone in the 52-17 loss to Ole Miss.
Vanderbilt (3-3, 0-3 SEC) will take on Arkansas (2-4, 0-3) on Oct. 17 (6 p.m. CT, ESPN2).
The backup quarterback on the Oct. 13 depth chart was listed as Whit Muchamp or Jack Elliott. Muschamp attempted two passes
in a loss to Georgia behind Berlowitz, who started for an injured Curtis.
Smith and Givens were rotational offensive linemen. With both players out, CJ Williams, Kevo Wesley, Ted Gregoire and Keegan Wechsler could see more playing time.
