Whitney, a two year-old female, mixed breed, who is described as a “gentle soul” is the latest winner of The Tennessean’s Pet of the Week.
There were 10 submissions for the poll. Whitney, nominated by Williamson County Animal Center, took home 67% of the vote to secure the win.
Seven dogs and three cats were nominated by animal rescues and foster facilities in the Middle Tennessee area.
Whitney is great at hide and seek, treat motivated, and loves all kinds of toys, the Williamson County Animal Center said, noting she's also great at chasing the ball, riding in the truck and appreciates porch time.
The Williamson County Animal Center (WCAC) is a public, open-intake shelter that serves the citizens of Williamson County. It is a county government,
tax-funded agency that receives more than 3,000 domestic animals each year and has a 95% live release rate.

Betty: A 10-year-old female Bulldog mix from Old Friends Senior Dog Sanctuary, says: "I've got just the right mix of sass and sweetness! I'm happiest with a laid-back crew, a comfy spot to relax, and someone to love me just as I am." Nominated by Old Friends Senior Dog Sanctuary in Mt. Juliet.
Thane: A fun-loving, toy-chasing goofball, Thane believes every game of fetch deserves an encore. With his playful spirit and heart full of love, he's always ready to turn an ordinary day into an adventure. Nominated by Kaylee's Island of Misfit Dogs.
Robb: An adorable grey blue domestic shorthair boy, Robb is 3 months old. He is amazing with kids, cats and large dogs! He came to us as a very, very ill kitten with no vision And against all odds, he pulled through and now even has partial vision in one eye! One week ago, he received eye surgery to close up the socket that had no eye left. He is resilient and so sweet! He gives kisses and is full of energy. Nominated bySaving Kittens Sanctuary.
Jaxx: is a young male mixed breed, neutered and fully vaccinated so he can go home the same day. Nominated by Montgomery County Animal Care & Control.
Mexican Pizza: is a young female Domestic medium hair kitten. Fully vetted, spayed and litter box trained. Prefers older children and is good with dogs and other cats. Nominated by Finders Keepers Cat Rescuein Clarksville TN.
Bach Chocolate: a handsome, 18-month-old male Border Collie/Poodle mix, Bach Chocolate is fully vetted, neutered, dog door-trained and weighs 21 pounds. Bach enjoys playing with other dogs and is great with people. Nominated by Two Ladies Caring Dog Rescue in Woodlawn TN.
Ayer: is an adult female Pit Bull Terrier mix. She is fully vetted, spayed, house/kennel trained and is great with children and other dogs. Ayer does get a little overzealous with kitties, so a no cat home would be best suited. Ayer has a fantastic personality and is waiting for her forever family. Nominated by Companion Pet Rescue of Middle Tennessee in Clarksville.
Rachel Green: a beautiful, 5-year-old Shepherd mix with a loving heart and a strong personality, Rachel Green absolutely adores people and is incredibly sweet and affectionate. She naturally takes on a “nanny dog” role, keeping a watchful eye on the little ones she loves. Her protective and gentle nature makes her a great companion for a family. Buster: is a super sweet, calm kitty who enjoys being close to his people. He'll happily seek out pets, lean in for a few head scratches, and may even surprise you with his adorable little nose boops. He loves chasing wand toys and laser pointers, but once playtime is over, he's more than happy to settle in for some well-deserved attention.
