Vanderbilt baseball will host an exhibition game for the first time this fall at noon on Oct. 18, taking on Walters State at Hawkins Field.
The Commodores will have four fall exhibition games, with two of those at home.
Vanderbilt, which missed the NCAA tournament in 2026, brought in both a top-10 freshman and transfer class for the upcoming season. The freshman class was ranked No. 2 by Baseball America and includes top position players James Tronstein, Noah Wilson and Gunner Skelton, and pitchers Joseph Contreras, Bo Holloway and Eli Herst.
The transfer class, ranked No. 7 by Baseball America, consists of eight players, including infielder Blaize Ward, catcher Matt Conte, outfielder Bud Coombs and pitchers Shane Brinham and Gavin Lauridsen. Each
of those five players came from another power-conference school, with three from the Big Ten, one from the ACC and one from the SEC.
The Commodores have also returned several key contributors, including Friday starter Connor Fennell and infielders Brodie Johnston, Ryker Waite and Tommy Goodin.
Walters State Community College is located in Morristown, Tennessee.
