A longstanding Captain D's restaurant in Mt. Juliet has closed, according to restaurant employees and the property owner.
The final day was Sept. 27, according to restaurant workers.
The quick-service fish and seafood restaurant, founded in 1969, is headquartered in Nashville.
Wilson County tax records state that the building at 271 N. Mt. Juliet Road, just north of Interstate 40, was constructed in 1993. Former Mt. Juliet City Commissioner estimated the restaurant has been a Captain D's franchise since the mid-1990s.
The property's owner, Mark Lineberry of Lineberry Properties, confirmed the restaurant is closing and said he expects to have a tenant soon.
"I've had several prospects talk about it and there are a couple of tours set up for this week,
but no commitments yet," Lineberry said.
The cause of the closure was not immediately known. Efforts to reach Captain D's officials for comment weren't immediately successful.
A Captain D's franchisee in Cleveland, Tennessee was recently fined more than $62,000 for violating federal child labor laws, according to the U.S. Department of Labor.
The fine was the result of an investigation that discovered the Cleveland, Tennessee Captain Dās location had underage workers operating the manual fryer and doing other tasks that are barred by federal law.
