The Metro Nashville Police Department is investigating the deaths of two men on Saturday, Aug. 8 in what officers suspect is a murder-suicide.
Around 4:45 p.m., police were called to a Graceland Drive home in Goodlettsville, where they discovered two adult men with gunshot wounds. Based on the evidence available at this time, MNPD believes that 74-year-old Stephen Slater shot his stepson John Norman, 49, before killing himself.
Both men lived in the home together.
Slater's wife called 911 to alert the police, but officials did not release whether or not she witnessed the dispute herself. When first responders arrived, they promptly pronounced Slater dead at the scene and rushed Norman to Skyline Medical Center. He died shortly after arrival.
