The Tennessean Pet of the Week is back with nine adorable animals from shelters and rescue organizations across Middle Tennessee.
Now, it’s your turn to choose your favorite.
We have energetic pups ready for a new adventure and sweet cats looking for a cozy place to call home.
Take a look and read what was said about each animal and then vote in the poll at the bottom of this story. Who knows, you could help a pet find their forever home!

Shelly
Shelly is a sweet, playful 5-month-old pup who loves romping with other dogs, carrying around her favorite fluffy toys, and curling up for snuggles when playtime is over. She’s crate trained, sleeps through the night, is making great progress with potty
training and is ready to find a forever family to call her own!
Shelly was nominated by Proverbs 12:01 Animal Rescue.
Ayer
Ayer is a young adult female Pit Bull mix. She is fully vetted, spayed and house trained. Ayer is great with children of all ages and loves playing with other dogs. Ayer is with Companion Pet Rescue of Middle Tennessee in Clarksville.
Blue
Blue is a female Boxer. She is fully vetted, house trained and comes with a voucher for her spay. She is very energetic, gets along with everyone and would be a great hiking and jogging companion. Blue is with Kaylee's Island of Misfit Dogs Rescue and Sanctuary in Clarksville.
Shirley
Shirley is a 5-month-old female domestic shorthair kitten. She is vetted, spayed and litter trained. Shirley might be tiny but she has a very big personality and just loves everyone. She enjoys being with her people and playing with toys. Shirley is currently with Saving Kittens Sanctuary in Clarksville.
Lyra
Lyra is a young female retriever mixed breed. She is fully vetted and is awaiting her spay appointment. Lyra is looking for her forever family and is currently at Montgomery County Animal Care and Control.
Rylo
Rylo is a 2-year-old male Australian shepherd mixed breed. He is fully vetted, neutered and house trained. Rylo gets along great with small dogs and prefers being around children 12 and older. He is a very sweet boy and will be an amazing addition to a lucky family. Rylo is with Two Ladies Caring Dog Rescue in Woodlawn.
Allie
Allie and her sister, Pickles, are a bonded pair of 5-year-old cats looking for their new home. Their favorite activity is lounging in the window soaking up the sun. When she's not sunbathing, you'll find Allie rolled over for belly rubs or snuggling on top of your chest. Allie is available for adoption at Pawster.
Ladder
Ladder is a two-year-old, 60-pound stray with lots of energy. He loves play time and is very smart. Ladder knows how to 'sit' and 'shake' and is good with other dogs. "I am a shelter favorite, to know me is to love me," his nominator said. Ladder was nominated by Maury County Animal Services.
Almond
Meet Almond, there is nothing nutty about this diva; she is sweet through and through. Almond is a giant cuddle bug, and though she loves her snuggles and having her belly rubbed, she also loves a day out on the town as one of our star Doggie Date candidates. If you're looking for the sweetest girl to take home and be your IRL teddy bear, Almond is the one for you. Almond was nominated by the Nashville Humane Association.
